Metamorphic Rock

Metamorphsis is the transformation of rocks. Metamorphic rock is formed through intense heat and pressure.
As a class we made metamorphic playdough and watched our colours morph together when we applied body heat and pressure.

Making Sedimentary Rock

We have been exploring different types of rocks and have begun developing our sedimentary rocks. We have looked at the cycle of sedimentary rock and have watched how water and compaction plays a key role. We layered each section and compacted the materials. At the end of the day we added water and left the cups to cement together. In a weeks time we will cut open the cups to see our sedimentary rock form.

Igneous Rock

This week we learnt all about Igneous Rock.
We looked at intrusive and extrusive Igneous Rock and how it is all formed.
We discovered how the heat and cooling process creates an Igneous Rock and we were able to have a day where we were able to relicate the process of forming Igneous Rock by creating HOKEY POKEY
Have a look at how much fun we had discovering, learning and tasting delicious hokey pokey Igneous Rock. Next week we will look at sedimentary rock!
